VESSELS EXHIBITION AT VANNER GALLERY, SALISBURY

Some of the Salt Series pots are on show at the Vessels exhibition at the Vanner Gallery in Salisbury until 23 December, so please drop in if you are in the area before Christmas. The gallery is next to the magnificent Salisbury Cathedral and the exhibition covers work by 15 artists, selected and curated by Jacquiline Creswell.

"These artists often navigate the tension between creating a vessel that is functional and one that carries conceptual or symbolic meaning," Jacquiline says. "They may challenge traditional notions of functionality, blurring the line between art and utility, or use the vessel as a canvas to explore deeper themes and ideas."

It's an interesting and varied show in a lovely setting, and you'd be very welcome to visit.

LONDON CLASSES JAN-MARCH

I'll be running a new series of classes in my Hammersmith studio in the new year. Numbers will be limited to 3 or 4 in each class, to allow plenty of time for individual tuition, and the emphasis will be on sculptural hand-building techniques and decoration.

The dates are 19 and 26 January, 23 and 24 February, and 8 March. Morning, afternoon and evening classes are available and you can opt to do as many as you like. Address is 3 Western Terrace, Chiswick Mall, W6 9TX.

If you want to go ahead, please send me this booking form (which has details of times, prices etc). Please let me know if you want to chat further about the classes.

CORNWALL SUMMER COURSE

The May 2024 residential pottery course at our house and studio in west Cornwall is now full, but we have decided to put on a special course from 17 to 23 August 2024.

As well as teaching hand-building and decorating, you will be able to participate in raku and pit firings and special effects and saggar firings in the gas kiln. It should be a creative and fun week in what is usually a lovely time of year in Cornwall.

As always, numbers will be limited to around eight, in order to maximise scope for personal guidance and individual projects, and the course will be suitable for all-comers, from beginners to more experienced potters. Home cooked meals and comfortable accommodation are included, as usual.

More details (including room choices and prices) are on the Cornish Pottery Holidays website here.  Please let me know if you want more information or might be interested in booking.
