Residential pottery courses, Cornwall
Caroline offers a few residential courses each year at her home in west Cornwall. They are designed for anyone wanting to develop or improve their ceramic and sculpting skills while enjoying a luxury, full-board holiday in beautiful surroundings on Cornwall's wild and inspiring Penwith peninsula.
Caroline's focus is on helping students develop technical skills and, most importantly, their individual creativity and style. She believes in enabling each potter to proceed at their own pace and in directions that interest and inspire them - helping them explore new ideas and methods and introducing the work of well-known artists.
Sessions are held in the new purpose-built studio attached to the main house. We use a wide range of high-quality materials, including porcelain, black stoneware and paper clays. The small size of the groups – up to six people – enables the sessions to be individually tailored to personal interests and skills.
Caroline's empahsis is on encouraging personal experimentation, while also developing and honing a broad range of techniques. Throwing on the wheel is part of the programme, but the focus is on hand-building and sculptural techniques.
